Skin oozing blood
I must claw away the aged
I need to molt again

The sense of formication
Lunar insects crawl within

Breeding their divinity at my behest

They crawl! I watch them in blurring vision
Chrome dust mites infesting
Penetrating the hypodermis
Setting free my old innards

But I feel faint, old life draining
Just a byproduct of rebirth

Can’t lift my head
Powerless over self
Insects keep crawling
Cut, carve, unearth

Darkness seeps more deeply
Limbs no longer movable
In a puddle of stale blood
I’ll soon reincarnate in cosmic light

I am lifted – the blood puddle gone – now in motion – but not yet strong
